The International Association of Wagner Societies unites 142 regional Wagner Societies, with a total membership of over 26000.

The purpose of the Association is to create interest in and deepen the understanding of Richard Wagner's works, provide support for the next generation of artists, support the Richard Wagner Bursary Fund founded at the behest of Richard Wagner, work to ensure the continuing success of the Bayreuth Festival and promote international cooperation.
